Simple Operative Unit

The Simple Operative Unit of Dermatology, which is part of the Complex Operative Unit of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, carries out outpatient activities aimed at the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of diseases of the skin and its appendages.

The clinical-therapeutic pathway is divided into a first diagnostic level consisting of a general dermatological check-up to gain an understanding of the specific dermatological problem after which patients can, if necessary, be referred to ultra-specialist outpatient clinics.

The main diseases the unit deals with are skin neoplasms, dermatitis with inflammatory genesis, infectious skin-mucosal diseases, sexually transmitted diseases, diseases of the appendages, and systemic diseases involving the skin.

The services provided by the Unit include general dermatological examinations, trichological examinations with high-resolution trichoscopy, videodermatoscopy for the prevention, diagnosis and follow-up of skin lesions, photodynamic therapy for the treatment of skin epithelial tumours, a total body mapping outpatient clinic for the complete mapping of moles, a biopsy outpatient clinic for the clinical-pathological correlation of the main dermatoses, and a biological therapy outpatient clinic.

The establishment of the skin cancer PDTA in collaboration with the UOC of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery allows for a multidisciplinary evaluation of skin cancer patients to ensure a shared and customised clinical-therapeutic approach.

Dermatological examinations are also carried out at the Check-up Center of the Campus Bio Medico Hospital and are aimed at the prevention of skin cancer.

Collaboration with the Units of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, Immunoreumatology, Medical Oncology, Haematology and Stem Cell Transplant, and Radiation Oncology allow the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to be customised to the needs of the individual patient.
