Blood donation is a gesture of great ethical value and civil sense, indispensable for saving lives and improving the quality of life of sick people. Blood cannot be produced artificially and the availability of this irreplaceable resource in the treatment of many diseases and in the execution of complex surgical interventions completely depends on the generosity of donors.
Who can donate
Donors must comply with some legal requirements:
- Must be between age 18 and 65
- Must weigh no less than 50 kg
- Must not have had severe diseases
- Must not have chronic illnesses
Blood collection is completely painless and it lasts about 10 minutes. However, a total of one hour must be allowed for the interview and the appointment before the donation. Approximately 450 ml of blood is taken with disposable material. A good breakfast is allowed at least 3-4 hours before the donation.
