URINE

For urinoanalysis and urinecolture, urine should be collected directly at the Campus Bio-Medico in containers provided by the staff of the Sample taking Centre. For the examination of 24-hour urine use containers available on the market. For the examination of 24-hour urine in acidified container, the container purchased must be delivered to the Sample taking Centre the day before the collection for treatment.

The collection of 24-hour urine in acified container must be performed at home, using containers available on the market previously treated by Analysis Laboratory. The 24 hours container must be delivered to the Sample taking Centre at Campus Bio-Medico the day before the collection. Laboratory personnel provide for acidification of the container that will be returned on the same morning at the Sample taking Centre. Collection must begin from second urine of the morning of the established day, continuing throughout the day and the night, with the latest collection which is the first urine of the day following the beginning of the collection. During the 24 hours, the container should be kept in the refrigerator. The 24-hour urine are delivered the same morning that ends the collection.

No. On the day of delivery of the 24-hour urine, collected in the dedicated container available on the market, patient will be provided the container for the collection of urine for urine culture to be performed directly at the Campus Bio-Medico.

For the examination of 24-hour urine and urine in the container acidified, the urine, in the day of collection, must be kept in the refrigerator and turn in the morning when the collection ends (See 'How to collect samples').

FAECES

Collection must be performed at home, in selected containers taken from the Sample taking Centre of Campus Bio-Medico University Hospital the day before the beginning of collection. To assess the presence of occult blood in faeces should be collected 3 consecutive samples (the same day or on different days) in 3 different containers to be kept in the refrigerator. After collecting three samples, bring all together to the Sample taking Centre.
